Degi Beef Biryani may be a rich, fragrant dish that brings together sensitive beef, fragrant basmati rice, and an assortment of flavors to create a dinner that’s fit for any occasion. Ingredients:

Beef Marinade

  • 500grams of Beef with bone
  • 200grams of yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of Ginger garlic paste
  • Half teaspoon red chili powder
  • Half teaspoon of garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (roasted and crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds (roasted and crushed)
  • Half teaspoon fennel seeds (roasted and crushed)
  • 1 tablespoon biryani masala of any brand
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

For Gravy

  • 2 to 3 onions sliced
  • 3 tomatoes chopped
  • 2 black cardamoms
  • 1 starannis
  • 1 inch piece of dar cheeni
  • 4 to 5 green cardamoms
  • 5 to 6 black peppers
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 1 cup of cooking oil
  • 1 and half glass of water
  • 2 to 3 dried plums

For Dum

  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 3 to 4 green chilies 
  • Fried onions
  • Half cup of mint leaves
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons yogurt
  • Half teaspoon Nutmeg and mace powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Biryani masala of any brand
  • 2 pinches of Orange food color

Step by Step Guideline for Degi Beef Biryani

Degi Beef Biryani: Marination

Marination

  • Add yogurt to bowl, add all the marination ingredients mention above and mix it well and leave it for minimum half an hour.

Degi Beef Biryani: Gravy Preparation

Gravy preparation
Add oil in a pressure cooker and add onions to it until it is golden brown and keep aside, add starannis, dar cheeni, black pepper, black cardamom, green cardamom, bay leaf to it, add chopped tomatoes , half of fried onions, dried plums to it and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, add marinated beef and water to it and cover the lid and cook it for 15 minutes. When beef is perfectly cooked then open the lid and dry all the access water.

Degi Beef Biryani: Rice Preparation

Rice Preparation

  • Wash rice properly and soaked it for 15 to 20 minutes at least, Add water and salt to container and boil it, add soaked rice to it and cook until rice is 80 % done and drain out the water with strainer.

Degi Beef Biryani: Layering of Biryani (Dum)

Layering of Biryani (dum) 

  • Add yogurt to a bowl and add nutmeg and mace powder, biryani masala, orange food color, and half cup of water and mix it well, keep aside.
  • In a pot, add all the gravy of degi beef biryani, now add prepared yogurt to it, add sliced tomato, green chilies, fried onions, mint leaves to it, add boil rice to it and lemon juice to it and cook 1 minutes on high flame and 10 to 15 minutes on low flame

Pro Tips for Perfect Degi Beef Biryani

  • Take good quality beef with bone and marinate the beef for 1 hour for better taste.
  • Take a special biryani basmati rice for degi beef biryani and don’t overcook the rice always cook 80% rice and 20% in dum.
